Bed bugs are those pesty, creepy little crawlers many of us have experienced at one time or another. Not particularly proven to spread disease (at least not at an alarming rate), bed bugs are about the size of an apple seed, feed on human blood and reside in cool, dark spaces and crevices near a human environment.
Sometimes, a little too near. Bed bugs received their name because of a historical presence underneath mattresses and around the cracks and crevices of headboards, box springs and bed frames. Humans don’t always notice, but there are hundreds of tiny spaces in which bed bugs can live in a bed, twin to king. However, bed bugs are also found in the following list of spaces – pretty much always around human environments.
• Behind baseboards • Wall openings • Upholstery • Floor cracks • Window spaces/cracks • Backpacks • Luggage • Boxes • Public transportation
